"I thought I was reading a murder investigation. By the end, I realized I was reading something far darker. Holloway stayed with me long after I closed the book, and I am hooked. Great flow, and character description details.. Carter Vale I enjoyed being an ARC reader amazing work truly!"
"I am not a huge reader but I was given the chance to do a beta read on Holloway, overall I do have to say the only reason I didn't give it the fifth star, is cause I am not a slow burn reader. I like fast passed, but either way over all amazing workmanship went into this book. Dont get me wrong I was still hooked in the first two chapters. I just prefer more guts and gore, its a personal prefrence. Take no offence Carter you are an amazing writer in your craft!"
"I picked up Above the Deep 6 expecting to read a personal story. What I wasn't prepared for was how deeply it would affect me.
From the first chapters, I felt connected, not just to the events, but to the person living through them. The honesty in these pages makes it impossible to remain a detached reader. You celebrate the victories, feel the frustration, and carry the weight of every setback alongside the author.
What stayed with me most was the anger. Not the sensational kind, but the genuine frustration that comes from watching someone face obstacles, injustice, and circumstances that should never have happened in the first place. There were moments where I had to put the book down simply because I couldn't believe what I was reading.
This isn't just a memoir. It's a reminder that real people are often forced to fight battles they never asked for, against systems that seem impossible to challenge. By the end, I wasn't just invested in the story, I was invested in the outcome.
Rarely does a book make me feel both inspired and outraged at the same time. Above the Deep 6 did exactly that. It's honest, powerful, and impossible to forget." Great manuscript!
I had the opportunity to read this book, and it was fantastic. From the very beginning, I felt like I was watching a movie. The author does an incredible job of bringing the setting, locations, and characters to life before drawing you into the central mystery.
Once the investigation begins, the story really takes off. As the detectives work to uncover what happened and why, more details emerge, revealing connections to other events that make the mystery even more compelling. The story shifts seamlessly between the murder investigation and the auto body shop, where you learn so much about a fascinating character named Barry.
I was completely absorbed from start to finish. This is an exciting, well-written thriller that kept me turning the pages, and I can't wait to read the author's other books.

it was amazing
This thriller was dark and full of twists that were cringe and shocking. Detectives Holloway and Reyes are investigating a homicide that leads to a much sinister plot that involves some heavy hitters and it must come to the light.

I received an ARC copy of this book but I am leaving this review voluntarily and it is wholly my own.
I really enjoyed this thriller. I really liked the writing style and the way the author let some things just sit with you. I thought the mystery was very easy to follow and understand. These types of books can get too procedural and boring where the characters just go to work and work and then come home over and over again. But this book wasn’t like that at all. Every thing the characters did moved the story forward. Every case file read, every document procured, every piece of information was there for a reason and it always helped the plot. I think anyone who likes crime thrillers, detective work and especially political crime will enjoy this book.
I just finished reading Holloway, and I honestly couldn’t put it down.
What started as a mystery quickly turned into something much deeper and darker than I expected. Carter Vale has a way of pulling you into the story and making you question every character, every motive, and every clue along the way. Just when I thought I had things figured out, the story took another turn.
The atmosphere is intense, the characters feel real, and the suspense builds steadily until the final pages. What I appreciated most was that it wasn’t just another predictable thriller. The story has its own voice and leaves you thinking about it long after you’ve finished.
If you enjoy psychological suspense, mystery, and stories that keep you guessing, Holloway is definitely worth reading. I can’t wait to see where the series goes next.
Holloway starts off a little slow, what feels like a simple mystery at first, flips into something much darker. You start to question everything and everyone. The atmosphere sneaks in on you and is intense. I did feel the characters came across as a little wooden at times, but this doesn’t negate from the story, in areas it actually adds to the suspense.
It definitely takes a twist I didn’t expect and I really spent the last part of the book on the edge of my seat. Very much look forward to see how dark Vales next book goes. I hope it goes darker!!
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Receiving a copy doesn’t affect my opinion in any way, all thoughts are my own and reflect my genuine reading experience.

love psychological thrillers and Carter Vale did not disappoint. Barry, Barry, Barry. Now there was a conundrum wrapped up tight. Carter fooled me with this character. There is a saying for magicians. They will have you looking one way but steal your watch when you aren’t looking. Something like that. I was gripping the pages when I found out Barry was not what everyone thought he was.
why Carter, why. I will call her “Linda’s friend”. That part was difficult for me to read. I loved the way you wrote her. The relationship she had with her husband, it made perfect sense when I read the ending. He must have been so devastated.
Wonderful book! A must read!

This one started off a little slow for me, but the premise had me intrigued enough to keep going. I was really curious to see how all the pieces of the puzzle would eventually fit together, and once they did, I was hooked.
One of the creepiest parts of this story was the reminder that you never truly know someone. People can seem one way on the surface while hiding an entirely different reality underneath, and that underlying tension kept me invested.
About halfway through, the pacing really took off, and from that point on, I flew through the rest of the book. Watching everything unravel was satisfying, suspenseful, and made the slower beginning worth it. If you enjoy psychological thrillers that keep you guessing and gradually reveal the truth, this one is worth picking up.
